Our Four-Floor Wedding Venue in Derbyshire

Imagine a wedding day where everything happens under one roof, without moving your guests from room to room or waiting for the next space to be ready. At The West Mill, our unique four-floor wedding venue in Derbyshire is designed around the natural flow of your wedding day. From getting ready and saying “I do” to drinks, dinner and dancing, each stage has its own dedicated space.

There’s no need to turn a room around between different parts of your day, and no waiting for your next space to be set up. Instead, you and your guests can simply enjoy the moment as your wedding flows seamlessly from one floor to the next. Set within a beautifully restored former cotton mill on the banks of the River Derwent, every floor has its own character, atmosphere and purpose. Discover how your wedding day could unfold at The West Mill.

The Dressing Room

Your wedding day starts here.

Tucked away from the main celebrations, our stylish Dressing Room gives you and your wedding party a private space to get ready together before the ceremony. With handmade furniture, comfortable seating and plenty of character, it’s the perfect place to relax, enjoy some time together and soak up the excitement of the morning.

Available from 11am on your wedding day, the Dressing Room also gives you somewhere peaceful to retreat to throughout the day.

The Cotton Quarter

Then, it’s time to say “I do”.

The Cotton Quarter is our dedicated ceremony space, filled with natural light from its beautiful Georgian-paned windows. Exposed brick walls, original blue brick tiled floors, cast iron beams and a unique barrel vaulted ceiling create an unforgettable backdrop for your wedding ceremony.

And because your ceremony has its own dedicated floor, there’s no need to wait around while another part of the venue is cleared or rearranged. Once you’ve exchanged your vows, your guests can simply move on to the next stage of the day.

The Gallery

After the ceremony, the celebrations continue in The Gallery, our dedicated reception space.

There’s no room turnaround and no awkward pause between saying “I do” and celebrating with your guests. Instead, your reception is ready and waiting on the next floor, with industrial character, vintage Chesterfield sofas and direct access to our courtyard.

Enjoy drinks and canapés, mingle with your guests and make the most of the time between ceremony and dinner. You can also head outside for photographs in the courtyard and grounds, with the River Derwent and Darley Park providing a beautiful backdrop.

It’s another part of what makes The West Mill different: each stage of your wedding has somewhere of its own to happen.

The Grounds

Running alongside the River Derwent, our grounds and gardens give you plenty of opportunities to step outside and enjoy the surroundings.

The south-facing courtyard is the perfect spot for drinks, canapés and photographs, with views towards the weir and sunsets over Darley Park.

Whether you’re capturing newlywed portraits, enjoying a quiet moment together or raising a glass with your guests, the grounds provide a beautiful natural contrast to the industrial character of the mill.

The Breakfast Floor

Next comes dinner.

Our unique Breakfast Floor is dedicated to your wedding breakfast, giving you and your guests a completely different setting for this part of the day.

Explore the distinctive industrial architecture of the mill as you sit down to dine, with a choice of round tables or trestle tables to suit your style. Our catering team will serve your wedding breakfast here, while your no-corkage drinks can be enjoyed alongside your meal.

It’s this simple progression from ceremony to reception to wedding breakfast that makes our four-floor Derbyshire wedding venue so special. Each floor is prepared for the next chapter of your day, so you can concentrate on celebrating rather than worrying about logistics.

The Spinning Room

Then it’s time to party.

The Spinning Room is our dedicated evening space, designed for dancing, live music and celebrating long into the night. With its open-plan layout, fully staffed and stocked bar and plenty of room for entertainment, it’s ready for whatever kind of evening you have planned.

Bring on the DJ, book a live band, add a photo booth or simply fill the dance floor with your favourite people.

By the time you reach the Spinning Room, your wedding day has moved naturally through each of its stages, from getting ready to the ceremony, reception and wedding breakfast, and finally to the evening party.

Four floors. Four stages of your wedding day. One seamless celebration.
