Getting Ready In Style
Your wedding day begins long before the ceremony.
The excitement starts in our stylish dressing room, tucked away inside The West Mill, where you and your wedding party can relax, pop the champagne and get ready together. With large mirrors, comfortable seating and beautiful natural light, it’s the perfect space for those unforgettable “morning of the wedding” moments.
The Dressing Room sits on the same floor as our ceremony space, so you’ll walk straight from your getting ready space to the aisle and into married life.
Say “I Do” in the Cotton Quarter
The most important moment of your day deserves a truly special setting.
Your ceremony takes place in The Cotton Quarter, located on the top floor of The West Mill. Flooded with natural light from tall Georgian windows and surrounded by exposed brick walls and cast iron columns, it’s a space full of atmosphere and character.
As guests take their seats beneath the barrel vaulted ceiling, you’ll walk down the aisle in one of the most unique ceremony spaces you’ll find in any Derbyshire wedding venue.
Whether your style is relaxed and intimate or beautifully styled and grand, the character of the building creates a stunning backdrop for your vows.
Drinks & Canapés by the River
After the ceremony, the celebrations begin.
Guests move down to The Gallery, our ground floor reception space, where drinks and canapés are served while everyone congratulates the newlyweds. Vintage Chesterfields, industrial features and warm lighting create a relaxed atmosphere indoors.
Outside, the celebrations continue in the south facing courtyard overlooking the River Derwent and historic weir. It’s the perfect spot for mingling, enjoying drinks in the sunshine and capturing those all important wedding photos.
Your Wedding Breakfast
As the day continues, guests are invited upstairs to the iconic Breakfast Floor for your wedding breakfast.
Here, long trestle tables or elegant round tables sit amongst exposed brick walls, original beams and tall windows that fill the room with light. The space perfectly balances industrial charm with a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
You’ll work with our catering team, Jenkinsons, to create the perfect menu for your celebrations. Whether that’s a three course dinner or sharing boards for a more relaxed vibe, our award winning food impresses guests every time.
Dining together is one of the most memorable parts of any wedding day, and at our Derbyshire wedding venue, it becomes an experience your guests will remember long after the last toast.
The Evening Party
When dinner is finished and speeches are complete, the celebration continues.
Your guests move down to The Spinning Room, a vibrant space designed for evening celebrations. With its open layout, fully stocked bar and plenty of room for dancing, it’s where the energy of the day turns into an unforgettable party.
Whether you choose a live band, a DJ or something entirely unique, this floor becomes the heart of the evening as your guests gather to celebrate together.
Stay the Night at Your Derbyshire Wedding Venue
When the celebrations finally wind down, there’s no need to rush off.
Just moments from The West Mill you’ll find our beautiful on-site accommodation, The Mill House. This gorgeous home away from home continues the same industrial style and historic charm found throughout the venue.
The Mill House offers eight ensuite bedrooms and a luxurious newlywed suite, allowing your closest family and friends to stay together and relive the day’s memories over breakfast the next morning.
