Your Love Story
We met at work! Gary was working in IT at the time in our office and we genuinely first started talking over the printer! We got on instantly and spent the next 8 years enjoying life travelling, going to gigs and making the most of everything.
The proposal: Gary booked a weekend away in The Cotswolds and rented a Shepherd’s hut with a hot tub. He definitely wanted to get it done quickly as the minute we arrived, he started pacing up and down nervously and reminiscing about all of our times together. I was just sat there having a drink and wondering why he was acting strange! He then got down on one knee in the mud and asked me to spend the rest of our lives together. It was a beautiful moment! He had some champagne hidden and we just spent the rest of the weekend in bliss enjoying every moment together.
Your Wedding Day Vision & Inspiration
We love the industrial style and wanted something a bit different.
Why did you choose The West Mill Venue?
The minute we saw The West Mill we completely fell in love. It’s the most beautiful building with incredible energy. It fit perfectly with our industrial theme and we really love that each floor hosts different parts of the day, so it feels like a new venue each time. The staff were exceptional from the minute we had our viewing up until we picked up our belongings the day after.

Did you do any DIY projects?
N/A
Tell us about the details – Flowers, Cake, Decor, Stationary….
We went for The West Mill cheese cake – we’re cheese fanatics so it was the only choice for us. It looked amazing and could be made into a cheeseboard after.
The flowers were designed and made by my very talented friend Lucyann Wilkinson who owns the amazing LULA LULA flower business. Lucyann put cotton into the arrangements to fit with the venue’s history and theme. She’s also included some different aspects such as thistles. The flowers were beautiful.
The décor and stationery were designed by my talented sister Rebecca Rumph who is a graphic designer. Very handy! She also incorporated the venue history into everything, even drawing a sketch of the building for our invites.
Alcohol. Because No Great Story Started With A Salad (…or did it?)
The food on the day was absolutely amazing! I only heard great feedback. We offered our guests different selections of food to choose from, so we had everything on offer from Arancini, pork belly, beef short rib and risotto. The trio of desserts also went down so well! The guests even got pizza again later. They were well fed!
We definitely had enough drink to last for weeks. The no corkage was brilliant and allowed us to tailor our drinks selection. We even had a keg of local Derbyshire Ale for our guests to enjoy.
The Hangover Only Lasts A Day But The Memories Last A Lifetime
Exceptional, memorable, unique
What are your favourite memories or highlights of your day?
We both agree that the aisle moment stood out. It’s such a unique moment that you think about over and over before the day. When it’s actually happening, it’s completely surreal. It sounds cheesy but we only saw each other in the moment and it was so special. We’ll never forget it.
Do you have any advice for future Brides & Grooms?
Make sure to enjoy the run up to the wedding and not get stressed. You’ll never have it again so enjoy every single moment!
