Tell Us About Your Incredible Outfits What and who did you wear?
I wore a beautiful Martina Liana dress from Emily Bridal in Sheffield. The most amazing bridal boutique, would highly recommend there!
Accessories: My shoes were Rainbow club & were SO comfortable, lasted (almost) all night in them. All of my jewellery was from Etsy; pearls and simple!
What and who did your partner wear?
George wore a double breasted black suit from Joshua Adams in Ilkley, again an amazing choice – they were amazing with alterations etc.
What and who did your wedding party wear?
My girls wore black dresses from Pretty Lavish, I always knew I didn’t want the traditional bridesmaid dress – but wasn’t expecting to find them on the high street!
Your Love Story
We met thanks to a bumble match! Very early on, we both knew we were ‘it’ for each other. We moved in together after just 4 months and 18 months later we were engaged. George proposed in the most amazing setting; a private boat in Croatia with the most perfect ring. Ironically it rained heavily on our engagement day & also on our wedding day – I’m taking it as a sign!
Your Wedding Day Vision & Inspiration
Our vision was always very personal and intimate. Our best friend married us on the day, we only had 43 guests and it was all about us. I wanted it to feel classic and have décor/dresses/flowers that wouldn’t age.

Why did you choose The West Mill Venue?
George found The West Mill the day after we got engaged and we knew that it was perfect. From the second we walked in to our venue it was just perfect. The industrial feel fit in to our vision so perfectly, so much so we didn’t see any other venues and instantly put our deposit down after our first viewing.
Not only that, but the staff were just top tier. Our event planner Lou was honestly hot on every single detail, no detail was missed and she was able to manage me – which is no mean feat!
Did you do any DIY projects?
I wouldn’t say ‘DIY’ but we wanted a hand in everything – we wanted our own spin & personality to come across for our guests. For example, we had our cat & dog feature a lot, we designed all the stationary ourselves & had a photo guest book. It suited us perfectly.
Tell us about the details – Flowers, Cake, Decor, Stationary….
We decided against a cake, mainly as our desserts were so good! Our décor was minimal, as The West Mill is so beautiful, we didn’t want to take away from that – so we used mainly greens & whites. Same with our flowers. Matthew at Boutique Florists was amazing at turning our vision in to a reality. The colours worked so well against the beautiful venue.
Alcohol. Because No Great Story Started With A Salad (…or did it?) What was on your food & drinks menu?
The food is something that we’ve had the most compliments on!
Canapes were Goats Cheese and Chutney cones, Honey Mustard Sausages, Beef & Horseradish Yorkshire Puddings, Chicken Balti on a mini naan and Leek and Blue Cheese filled Yorkshire Pudding.
For starter we went for a Chorizo & Red Pepper Arancini.
Main was Beef Rib, Red Wine Jus, Pomme Puree & Tenderstem
Pudding was Crème Brulee, Chocolate Brownie & Sticky Toffee Pudding – three of our faves!
Again, we wanted to make sure we had the drinks that best represented us. We served Aperol Spritz, White Chicken Wine, Whispering Angel (my favourite), Poretti Lager, Jute Ale (George’s favourite), a red wine we discovered at our favourite restaurant – Les Oliviers Merlot, Prosecco and finally Moet for toasts.
The Hangover Only Lasts A Day But The Memories Last A Lifetime Can you sum up your wedding day in 3 words?
Full. Of. Love.
What are your favourite memories or highlights of your day?
It’s hard to say just one thing, but the one thing I think of when I look back is just pure love and the bubbly feeling I felt in my tummy all day.
Plus, being on the dance floor all night holds very special memories!
Do you have any advice for future Brides & Grooms?
I’m writing this three weeks post-wedding and I have the biggest wedding blues, so the one piece of advice I can give is enjoy it, live in the moment and try to take it all in as it’s over in the blink of an eye.
