Your Love Story How did you meet, was it love at first sight? Tell us about the proposal!

We both work for the NHS and met at a work Christmas party – typical I know! 4 years later Jake proposed on a private boat trip in turkey, a gorgeous golden beach as a backdrop.

Why did you choose The West Mill Venue?

A funny story… Our friends got married at the west mill and suggested we came for a viewing. I (Anna) was adamant we shouldn’t get married where our friends did. As soon as we walked through the doors, we fell in love!! It was perfect. We wanted a relaxed day full of love, laughter and fun. The West Mill provided an incredible space for our dream day. Rustic yet whimsical! The layout of The West Mill was perfect and I honestly wouldn’t change it for the world.

Did you do any DIY projects?

We did a lot of the decor ourselves; it was minimal as we felt The West Mill provided a lot of its own character. We used rent for your event for our centrepieces and flower arch in the ceremony room. The table decor we did ourselves and we had a large prop mirror for selfies. We made our confetti cones from an old lord of the rings book which went really well with Annas walking down the aisle song.

Alcohol. Because No Great Story Started With A Salad (…or did it?) What was on your food & drinks menu?

We had a range of alcohol – a great blend of what we both love. Our food menu was varied and met the needs of our guests. It was incredible and we wish we can come back just for the food alone

The Hangover Only Lasts A Day But The Memories Last A Lifetime Can you sum up your wedding day in 3 words?

Best Day EVER!

What are your favourite memories or highlights of your day?

Anna – Walking down the aisle with my dad and seeing Jake at the other end, all my nerves disappeared and I was full of excitement and happiness

Jacob – Getting married to Anna was my favourite memory. The whole day was perfect and we’d 100% do it all again exactly the same.

Do you have any advice for future Brides & Grooms?

Plan your wedding day for you two. Everyone will have an opinion and you need to filter them out carefully. Relax and enjoy the day to its fullest, nobody will know if something has not gone to plan or not happened, unless you tell them.

Spend as much time as you can together, it is a whirlwind. We had a plan that if we were apart for a bit of time we would always come back together after. This worked out as I (Anna) spent a lot of the time on the dancefloor so was easy to find.

Oh and forget soft smiles
