Your Love Story How did you meet, was it love at first sight? Tell us about the proposal!

We met on Bumble 6 years ago and it was definitely love at first sight. We moved in together 6 months later, bought a house, survived a pandemic, had a beautiful daughter and then got engaged. Its been a jam packed 6 years.

Your Wedding Day Vision & Inspiration What was your inspiration and vision for your day?

Relaxed, fun, personal. We didn’t want any stuffy traditions. We just wanted a personal day that showcased the best of our personalities and our lives as a family with a few surprises thrown in for good measure. That’s why we decided to have a blessing with a friend giving the ceremony and we did the legal bit a few days before. It meant the day felt totally relaxed and we were able to write our own vows.

Why did you choose The West Mill Venue?

When I fell down the Instagram rabbit hole of researching wedding venues the West Mill was the one upon scrolling I just fell in love with even before visiting. It looked stunning and was even more so when we visited. We loved the cosiness inside especially as we were planning a November wedding and it felt so unlike any other wedding venue we had been to before.

Did you do any DIY projects?

All of the stationery and table décor I designed myself along with our Welcome Mirror sign. Which was a facebook marketplace purchase with an ETSY sticker.

Tell us about the details – Flowers, Cake, Decor, Stationary….

The floral brief was to be loose and unstructured with warm autumnal colours and I really wanted to use a mix of fresh and dried flowers as much as possible to keep costs down and they looked just as stunning as a full fresh bouquet.

The cake was made by my Aunty with colours that fit with the rest of our décor.

Just generally we wanted warm lighting and as many shiny disco balls as we could fit in.

Alcohol. Because No Great Story Started With A Salad (…or did it?) What was on your food & drinks menu?

We wanted food that would fill up our guests but not leave them too bloated to party. The grazing tables at night were a great choice to offer variety to our guests and there were lots of empty plates around the room.

The Hangover Only Lasts A Day But The Memories Last A Lifetime Can you sum up your wedding day in 3 words?

One, Happy, Party

What are your favourite memories or highlights of your day?

Having our best friends sing and bless the ceremony. It really did add that personal touch. Seeing our daughter love the confetti canons and having the best party on the dancefloor.

Do you have any advice for future Brides & Grooms?

If you can, then embrace the DIY element, I felt a huge sense of satisfaction doing it knowing it was personal to us and meant we kept within a budget.
