Your Love Story How did you meet, was it love at first sight? Tell us about the proposal!

From initially being friends at college to being together 12 years when we got married!

The Proposal: Due to Lockdown, we celebrated New Year’s Eve at home with our favourite meal, cocktails and board games. Jack proposed as the clock struck midnight on 1st January 2021!

Your Wedding Day Vision & Inspiration What was your inspiration and vision for your day?

Autumnal colours were our main inspirations. Hollie planned to do lots of DIY crafts for the day and we wanted to accompany the beautiful West Mill setting by keeping things simple yet classic.

Why did you choose The West Mill Venue?

The West Mill is a stunning venue but offered us the atmosphere that we wanted which was super chilled. We loved the idea of people able to move to different floors throughout the day. The West Mill were very accommodating in terms of the food and drink that we wanted, we were able to choose meal choices that we loved and tweak to make personal to us.

Did you do any DIY projects?

 YES!

– Hollie and her mum made the cake

– Clay name tags were handmade

– All signed were DIY jobs too, as were the orders of Service and stationary

Tell us about the details – Flowers, Cake, Decor, Stationary….

Flowers on the tables and decorated in the floral hanging above the top table were by Beth our Florist at Thistle & Phlox.

Our cake was three tiers: classic Victoria sponge, chocolate and fruit cake, covered in buttercream and decorated with some fresh flowers to match the bouquets – made by Hollie and her mum.

Signs all handmade and décor all provided by us!

Alcohol. Because No Great Story Started With A Salad (…or did it?) What was on your food & drinks menu?

Canapes: Pulled Pork Bonbons, Chicken guabao and mascaponi arancini balls

Bread and oil sharing board to start, pork belly with mash and veg or tomato, pesto and feta tart for main, duo of deserts (chocolate fondant and eton mess) as our pudding.

Pizzas in the evening

Beers and prosecco for our drinks receptions and wine for the tables

The Hangover Only Lasts A Day But The Memories Last A Lifetime Can you sum up your wedding day in 3 words?

 MOST PERFECT DAY!

What are your favourite memories or highlights of your day?

Marrying your best friend, looking around and seeing all your favourite people there to celebrate with you. Our ceremony was at the church in Attenborough where it absolutely chucked it down! One of our highlights was arriving at The West Mill, stepping out of the car to the sun coming out for us.

Do you have any advice for future Brides & Grooms?

Have the day exactly as you want it, with all your favourite people there!

Make sure you take time during the day, just the two of you!
