Wedding Style: A Fun, Romantic and Whimsical Summer Wedding
Real Wedding at The West Mill Venue, Derbyshire
Your Love Story?
We actually met on holiday, it was a last minute holiday me and my best friend Sophie booked. Kieran and his friends seemed to be the only other English speakers there so we all got chatting and the rest is history as they say.
I have to give it to Kieran the proposal was very romantic, he’d booked and took me to Mexico! He asked me to marry him there with the ring in one hand and a bottle of champagne in the other, how could I refuse ha!!
What was your inspiration and vision for your day?
We just wanted the day to feel relaxed and special with loads of fun thrown in.
The decor of The West Mill is so beautiful without you having to add much to it but I guess in terms of inspiration we wanted to go for a soft, romantic almost whimsical feel.
Why did you choose The West Mill Venue?
As soon as we walked into The West Mill we knew it was where we wanted to get married. It was everything we were looking for and much more.
Did you do any DIY projects?
We didn’t have that much to do in terms of DIY projects, as I’ve said before The West Mill has beautiful decor so not much extra was needed.
I did buy a massive wooden branch shaped heart and tied photos of me and kieran to it. This was surrounded by framed photos of our family.
Tell us about the details…
The flowers were very soft in colour with lots of white and green added in, we used a rose called ‘QuiteSand’ which is a beautiful peachy/blush colour.
The dress was very hard to find, me my mum and bridesmaids went to over 13 shops to find the one. All followed by a prosecco lunch so it wasn’t all bad! As soon as I tried on the ‘one’ we all knew instantly the search was over.
What was on the Menu?
Drink Reception- We had Prosecco, Pimms and large beer buckets filled with a variety of Beers and Ciders
Canapes- A selection of Mini fish & chips, Beef with yorkshire puddings, Goat cheese and chutney on crackers, and mini crab cake with tartar sauce.
Wedding Breakfast- Stuffed Chicken with Potatoes and seasonal veg
Dessert- Raspberry Cheesecake
What was your favourite part of the wedding?
The whole day for us was amazing.
I loved getting ready with my mum and girls in the amazing dressing room before the ceremony.
Also getting on that dance floor with all our friends and family was brilliant (my dad has got some killer dance moves haha!!)
There was so many special and funny memories from the day that we won’t forget.
Do you have any advice for future brides & grooms?
All I’d say is try and stay relaxed, everything will fall into place and you will have an amazing day! We got married on Friday the 13th so lots of things could have potentially gone wrong but we were in good hands with The West Mill team, they helped us out every step of the way so a massive thank you to them!!
Fun. Love. Amazing
