Your Love Story?

We met on the wonderful world of Plenty of Fish 6 years ago where Matt gave me one of his cheesy one liners. We went on a few dates but then I (Rebecca) was offered a job in Dubai. We left it for a few months but then when I came back from vacation we hit it off again and decided to give it a go. We did long distance for a year and a half before Matt taking the plunge and moving to Dubai to join me. Fast forward two and a half years, Matt proposes to me at Bab Al Shams in Dubai in the desert, on top of a sand dune while we watched the sunset. We were discussing how far we had come and what the future will bring when Matt rolled onto one knee and popped the question, and of course I said yes.

What was your inspiration and vision for your day?

With the cotton mill in mind we wanted to keep that look and feel with the outfits being more vintage, flowers being fabric and the look to be more rustic with the wood slices and stationery. We wanted the venue to feel like ours with the lighting and fairy lights, colour scheme and details, it felt like a home from home and more welcoming. We wanted people to have fun so we had the wedding photo props, caricaturist, disposable cameras and beer pong to keep everyone entertained.

Why did you choose The West Mill Venue?

I have a fashion degree background so the West Mill was apt with its history. Just the fact it is a stunning venue with lots of charm.

Did you do any DIY projects?

The stationery and back drop was a fun DIY project to work on. Plus made it a bit more unique to us.

What was on the Menu?

We went for the bar snacks before the wedding breakfast as we knew the main meal would be very filling and we were not wrong. Wine, prosecco, spirits and beer was served too at this time. For the wedding breakfast we had the cold mezze to begin with, this was because we wanted to have a Dubai brunch feel. This was then followed by the roast beef with all the trimmings, finished with the crumble. Jenkinsons did an amazing job on the day and the food was phenomenal. Everything was cooked and presented to perfection.

What was your favourite part of the wedding?

Walking down the aisle after the ceremony seeing all the people we love and care about in the same room as us.

Do you have any advice for future brides & grooms?

Do what you want to do, this is the time to be selfish. Have your wedding as big or small as you want, as extravagant or intimate as you like, but make sure it personal to you both as you only do this once and you want that to be perfect with no regrets.

Can you sum up your wedding day in 3 words?

Wonderful, personal and fun

The Dream Team
