Wedding Style: A Classic September Wedding filled with Sequins and an Impressive Wedding Cake!

Real Wedding at The West Mill Venue, Derbyshire

Your Love Story?

We met through mutual friends and went on a, sort of blind date!

We ended up living together in Tom’s flat and have been together since!

We’ve since got a little dog, Bentley and purchased our first home together.

The proposal was in Marbella on 30.06.2015 and it was on the pier. It wasn’t easy convincing Jodi down the pier but we got there and she said yes!

What was your inspiration and vision for your day?

Classy, laid back and in keeping with the West Mill!

Why did you choose The West Mill Venue?

The location is simply amazing. You would never know you are 5 minutes from a city centre and the design of the building just finishes everything off. Having everything under one roof for the wedding day saved us a lot of hassle and it was really smooth and convenient . The river will also make for some amazing photographs!

Did you do any DIY projects?

No, nothing on this front.

Tell us about the details…

The cake was from Rose at The Pink Cake Box and she is amazing at her job. It looked so good on the day and everybody commented on the taste, even people that don’t like cake. The dress from Lori G Bridal picked me! At the point of choosing, I’d only tried 3 dresses on and this was one of them. I fell in love with it. Finally, the flowers which were fresh with lots of quick sand roses and eucalyptus leaves which everybody commented on! The blend of flowers, including the wild, went so well with the venue.

What was on the Menu?

We served Prosecco to start the day along with cold beers and gin and vodka cocktails. The nibbles were olives and nuts which went down a treat.

We then went on to our breakfast of, leek and potato starter with fresh bread and buttered rolls. We then had beef dinner with trimmings and a chocolate brownie pudding.

We had wine served from Darley Abbey wines which were out of this world.

What was your favourite part of the wedding?

Our favourite part was the ceremony. Watching Jodi walk down the aisle to Ludovico Einaudi was like something out of  movie and the registrars were so good at their job.

Our second part was the first dance to Unchained Melody and hearing everybody sing it back to us. It felt so special.

Do you have any advice for future brides & grooms?

Make sure you go for it, #teamwestmill all the way. Make sure you leave yourself a couple of days spare before your big day to try and relax and reflect on what is about to come. Don’t worry about anything because it all works out in the end!

Can you sum up your wedding day in 3 words?

Beautiful, overwhelming memory
