Your Love Story?
We met in a local pub, Charlotte was already there with mutual friends as Callum turned up to drown his sorrows after failing his driving test! He tried to flirt with me but I thought he was joking and turned him down! Callum admitted he enjoyed the chase and was persistent! We became official 5 months later!!
Callum proposed whilst on holiday in Mexico, I couldn’t figure out why he wasn’t excited for the trip! Unknowing it was because he was so nervous!! Our room was decorated with rose petals, champagne and candles.. I turned around and Callum was on one knee!
What was your inspiration and vision for your day?
Callum is Scottish and from the start so we were always going to incorporate that into our day – Thistles, Family Tartan, Kilts and whisky! The venue is so beautiful on its own and we knew we wanted to add a few subtle decorations to add our touch but we just loved it as it was!
Why did you choose The West Mill Venue?
After getting engaged we started to look at different venues where our guests didn’t have to travel between the ceremony and reception, we visited quite a few venues which we loved but didn’t get ‘the feeling’ from, that was until we visited the west mill. Walking in we knew.. This was us!
Did you do any DIY projects?
Loaddssss! The timeline of the day crate, the centre pieces, place names, table names, the table plan, the sweetie cart – after my fake flowers for the centerpieces didn’t arrive I even had a go at being a florist!
Tell us about the details… Flowers, Cake, your dress etc!
The flowers… were really special, Thistles to represent Callum, roses for the bridesmaids, Freesia’s and lavender for both of my late grandmothers!
The cake… had 3 layers – Carrot, Chocolate and Lemon! Amazing
The dress… oh my god, the dress! I lost a lot of weight in the lead up to the wedding so my seamstress hated me! But she did such an amazing job and I felt incredible! It’s a Sophia Tolli Begonia dress with a diamond belt!
My Shoes… were Charlotte Mills, the sole of the shoes read ‘Something old, Something new, Something borrowed, something blue a silver sixpence in her shoe’ and in the sole of my shoe was a silver sixpence placed.
What was on the Menu?
Drinks Reception – Prosecco, Bottles of beer and the ‘Brides Cog’ a Scottish tradition which was a surprise for Charlotte
Wedding Breakfast Menu
Brie & Mango Parcels
Steak and Ale Pie with Chunky chips and a mélange of vegetable
Apple Crumble
What was your favourite part of the wedding?
Walking down the aisle with my dad and seeing Callum
Can you sum up your wedding day in 3 words?
Complete Utter Perfection
Do you have any advice for future brides & grooms?
When people tell you it goes so quick, honestly nothing prepares you for how quick! Invest in a videographer, we forgot so many details and being able to watch it all back is just amazing!
