Real Wedding at The West Mill Venue, Derbyshire

Your Love Story?

We were family friends, my brother used to play football for Toms dad, and Tom’s brother and I have been friends since we were 10. Tom and I went to the same uni, and first went on a date in 2008 – I had always had a crush on my friends older brother.

11 years later, he popped the question on a dog walk by the church in the town where we grew up on Christmas eve!

What was your inspiration and vision for your day and why did you choose The West Mill?

We wanted it super chilled and wanted the day to just flow and be so relaxed. We fell in love with The West Mill on our first visit – the industrial vibe, the props, the bar and the finishing touches just did it for us – we were sold.

The food was incredible and we knew then we had to get married here.

After the wedding the things we heard over and over again were; how good the food and service was, how beautiful the venue was & how the day just flowed so well.

Did you do any DIY projects?

Picture boards and bespoke boxes – handmade made by a friend!

What was on the Menu?

Alcohol provided by a bodega in Spain (the in laws have a villa in Spain so we sourced from there).

Our wedding breakfast menu:

A Selection of Bread & Butter

Mango & Brie Parcels with Mango Salsa

Duo of Pork Slow Roasted Pork Belly & Pork Fillet wrapped in Serrano Ham with Bubble & Squeak Mash, Braised Red Cabbage & Honey Roast Parsnips

Chocolate Brownie served with Vanilla Ice Cream

Tea & Coffee

Cheese tower

What was your favourite part of the wedding?

The pictures say it all – so many smiles, laughter and love captured in them!

I will never forget the feeling I got when walking down the aisle and seeing all my favourite people in one room – I thought my head was going to explode with love.

Do you have any advice for future brides & grooms?

In the run up – lists, lists, list and remember it’s YOUR day – do what you want.

On the day – make sure you grab little bits of time throughout the day to just take a deep breaths and take it all in and enjoy every single second.

If you’ve been inspired by Karla & Tom’s wedding and would like to know more about The West Mill, we’d love to hear from you! Feel free to download a Wedding Brochure or get in touch.

Can you sum up your wedding day in 3 words?
