The West Mill – Coronavirus COVID-19

Currently, the Government has confirmed that wedding restrictions will end by March 31st 2021 at the latest. Therefore, we have worked with all couples who have been directly affected in this time period in finding them alternative solutions. As the country enters into a third lockdown, sadly The West Mill Venue is unable to host weddings until lockdown is lifted. We have, and must continue to contact our couples in chronological date order, and are currently working with our couples who are directly affected by this lockdown.

Understandably, we are being presented with many queries and worries around the possibility of how weddings will commence under the possible future restrictions that could continue to be enforced by the Government. At this time, we are unable to speculate on how these restrictions may be lifted further into 2021, as the possible future outcomes are endless. We understand this does make wedding planning extremely hard at this time, but our utmost priority is making sure our couples, their guests and our staff are safe, and we will communicate any updates to you as soon as we possibly can.

With two vaccines now being rolled-out, we are feeling very positive that we can now see the light at the end of the tunnel, and since the pandemic began we are closer than ever to returning to normality. The Prime Minister has promised that the top four priority groups will have received their first vaccination by 15th February 2020 and from this point, we will begin to see some restrictions ease allowing the wedding season to be up and running by summer 2021.

Should we receive information from the Government as to how your wedding day could be affected, we will contact you with as much notice as possible with any alternative options that are available to you.

We have hosted smaller weddings for 15 and 30 guests following Government Guidance, and it has been so great to welcome back our wonderful couples, and their guests, back to The West Mill Venue. If you are looking for inspiration on a micro wedding – you can find some examples of this over on our real weddings blog.

So what happens now…?

We are keeping up to date with the current Government guidance and whilst this does make decision making extremely hard, our utmost priority is making sure our couples, their guests and our staff are safe and we will communicate any updates as soon as we possibly can.

Booked Weddings

Due to the amount of weddings we have booked, we have to work as fairly and methodically as we can. Therefore, the team is contacting our couples in a chronological date order as to whether they’d like to continue on their original wedding date, or explore alternative options for their wedding day.

Should we receive information that your wedding date will be directly affected by the pandemic and severe restrictions are predicted to be in place, we will contact you with any alternative solutions. We are not forcing our couples to go ahead with their wedding dates if there is a guest limit of 15 or 30 as previously enforced, as we acknowledge that this isn’t what our couples had originally planned for. Should we be forced to limit guests numbers, and you wish to continue with your wedding date, we would be more than happy to host this for you and discuss this with you in more detail.

Our current target is to contact couples no later than approximately 12 weeks in advance wherever possible, however we do need to retain fluidity and this timescale may be subject to change as the pandemic progresses and government approach changes. We are unable to accept any postponements outside of the team contacting you, but we will do our best to keep you updated as soon as we are given any further guidance or insights.

We’d like to thank you for your continued patience at this time whilst we work as rapidly as we can to administer the changes. We hope you can appreciate and understand this is the fairest way to work through this unprecedented situation. We will be in contact as soon as we possibly can to offer you a postponement date should your current wedding date be directly affected so we can get your wedding plans back on track.
