Your Love Story – How did you meet, was it love at first sight? Tell us about the proposal!
It’s crazy to think that even though Burton is such a small place, we had never heard of each other or crossed paths. Somehow, we found each other on Hinge!
After texting for a while, we finally went on our first date and ended up spending the whole day together because neither of us wanted it to end. From that very first day, it just felt right. We instantly became soulmates and knew there was something very special between us.
Then, on holiday in Turkey with our family, came the most perfect proposal. On the beach at our hotel, surrounded by flowers, heart-shaped balloons and fireworks, he got down on one knee and asked the question. With a beautiful diamond ring and all our loved ones there, it was everything we could have dreamed of.
Your Wedding Day Vision & Inspiration What was your inspiration and vision for your day?
I wanted our day to reflect everything about us. I love 80s music and disco, and we both love bright, bold colours that pop, so bringing the two together felt perfect.
From the little personal touches to our favourite drinks, every detail was chosen with us in mind. But what really brought it all to life was having our family and friends there, they filled the room with so much colour, happiness and love.
The theme wasn’t just a theme… it was LOVE ❤️
Why did you choose The West Mill Venue?
I first visited The West Mill around eight years ago with a friend who was planning to get married there, and I instantly fell in love with it. I remember thinking, one day, I’d love to get married here.
When we visited again last year, that feeling was exactly the same, only this time, it was for our wedding. We didn’t even look at anywhere else; I just knew it was the one. Ryan agreed!
If I could, I’d honestly spend every day there!

Did you do any DIY projects?
Pretty much everything was DIY, I wanted it all to be so personal and for everyone to really appreciate the small details, I poured my heart and soul into every design and hopefully everyone felt that, I had so much fun planning, I was stunned at how everything we had planned came together so well, it was a proud moment for us.
Tell us about the details – Flowers, Cake, Decor, Stationery….
The cake was made by my mother-in-law, Mary, and I have genuinely never heard so many compliments in my life over a cake! It was a traditional fruit cake with marzipan, made up of three tiers, it was impressive.
The décor featured pops of bright pink and orange, alongside disco balls, which really helped to scream our personalities and bring the whole look together.
The West Mill really needs minimal adding, as the natural beauty of the venue and its rustic vibe speak for themselves. We wanted to enhance what was already there rather than take away from it, and it created the perfect backdrop for our day.
Alcohol. Because No Great Story Started With A Salad (…or did it?) What was on your food & drinks menu?
Our speciality drinks were Pimm’s and Prosecco, served from the horse box outside. We got incredibly lucky with the weather, and the sunshine really brought the whole setting to life. The drinks were perfect for our guests and made for such a fun, relaxed way to enjoy the outdoor space.
Our food was absolutely amazing, and I can’t thank Jenkinsons enough. Our catering manager was incredibly accommodating, helpful and attentive throughout, making sure everything ran smoothly and that we were completely happy.
We started with a delicious bruschetta topped with prosciutto, mozzarella, garlic, red onion, tomatoes, fresh basil and balsamic.
For the main course, we had slow-cooked pulled beef rib with red wine jus, tenderstem broccoli and pomme purée, served alongside bowls of fresh seasonal vegetables. It was absolutely delicious and went down a treat with our guests.
Dessert, a warm chocolate fudge brownie served with Raspberry Ripple ice cream. The perfect sweet ending to an incredible meal!
The Hangover Only Lasts A Day But The Memories Last A Lifetime Can you sum up your wedding day in 3 words?
PERFECT, PERFECT PERFECT!!
What are your favourite memories or highlights of your day?
We just remember smiling from ear to ear all day. The whole day was so full of joy, laughter and happiness, but a particularly special highlight for me was Miles’ speech. He had the whole room in stitches with his charm, wit and natural humour, and he did us both incredibly proud. It was such a special moment and one we’ll always remember.
Do you have any advice for future Brides & Grooms?
Stay together all day, don’t leave each other’s side and stay up as late as you can, it’s all over in a flash!
