Your Love Story?

It all started in the Alps… I (Kirsty) was working in a ski shop in Tignes, when Ali came in with his family. He lived out there too and they were coming to visit so needed ski hire. He hung out at the back and I kept trying to be nosey and catch his name… It’s a long story but it took a few months for our paths to cross again, but once they did they stayed crossed! After a few years, and some more time living in the Alps together, we took a trip to Canada, where Ali popped the question on the top of a hill with a beautiful view.

What was your inspiration and vision for your day?

We didn’t know what kind of day we wanted, other than bonfire night, until we found this venue. Then we decided we wanted it to be ‘industrial chic, with a hell a lot of fun thrown in!’

Why did you choose The West Mill Venue?

Because it is different, the layout is fun and the decor makes it easy to have your day looking beautiful even without all the extras such as flowers.

Did you do any DIY projects?

Nope I’m not gifted with any craft skills unfortunately!

Tell us about the details…

Joseph Massie is the master of floral art. He did a wonderful job finishing the venue with his exquisite taste and eye for design.

The dress was from Jenny Packham in Mayfair. I loved wearing such a gorgeous dress and still have it hanging out on display in my house.

What was on the Menu?

Jenkinsons did an amazing job of the food. We had baked Camembert to start which was just to die for, followed by the most delicious lamb shank and poached pears for dessert. It was spectacular!

What was your favourite part of the wedding?

The whole day! I loved staying in The Mill House (which has the worlds most comfortable bed may I add), getting ready with my ladies was a wonderful experience, the entire day was so special and FUN! We had a blast. I think about it all the time and wish we could relive it!

Can you sum up your wedding day in 3 words?

BEST FUN EVER

Do you have any advice for future brides & grooms?

One big tip ladies, I didn’t test my hair style and dress together prior to the day, and the buttons down my dress pulled my hair style to pieces… slight error on my part there. I would always recommend having your hair in a similar style to how you plan to wear it on the day when you go for that final fitting.

Relax, the the team at The West Mill know their venue and know what they are doing. (Massive thank you to Sophie and Andrew for making our day as spectacular as we had hoped).
